Finding your Photos

When will you post the pictures from last week?

  • As soon as we can, I promise. It typically takes us less than a week to sort and upload all the 20,000-40,000 shots each week. Trust me, we want them online more than anyone. Please be patient and keep checking back in our store here.

Any advice for finding our photos among the thousands you post?

  • Yes! First, make sure you are looking in the correct date. Also, set it to display 100 thumbnail images per page, instead of the default 25. And finally, create a photo album when you start finding your photos, and put them in there. It's a free service on Photoreflect and you'll see the option to "add to album" beneath the larger version of the image.

Which category should I look in?

  • We try to make things easy on you by splitting it up by category, but some of you folks on "cross-over" bikes that are a mixture of 2 (or more!) categories, might have a hard time finding yourselves. We try to sort by what the bike is at it's core, regardless of what the dealership or owner has added. Basically, all Harley Davidson's go in Cruisers, along with Valkyries, Magnas, etc. Touring Bikes category is home to the Gold Wings, most BMWs, Pacific Coasts, Concourses, etc.

I was there one day and I don't see any pictures of me!

  • We put all of the photos we take online, there is no reason not to. If you don't see your photo in the shots of that day, you may have gotten out there before we did, or passed through after we stopped for the day, or we just missed you somehow. (we generally shoot from about 9am to 6pm) We sincerely apologize if we didn't get a shot of you. You may also try looking through a different category.

  • If you don't see any pictures at all posted from that day, they're not uploaded yet, (takes about a week) or we weren't shooting. You may have seen someone else taking photos, but it wasn't us. Some folks are out there shooting to take home their own mementos. Some folks are shooting for business.

Ordering Info / Answers

I'm having problems placing an order!

  • Make sure "Cookies" are enabled on your web browser. (usually in the "Privacy" section under "Tools" then "Internet Options")
  • Give it a couple of hours and try again.  All payment processing is handled by Photoreflect, we don't see any of that, and sometimes they have to do maintenance that disrupts the process.
  • Try a different computer. If you can use a friend's computer, or one at your place of employment, that will often do the trick.
  • Try navigating to the photos again from the very front page of the store. Sometimes we have to make a change to an event, and bookmarks or photo albums that link directly to the photos cause problems.
  • Call Photoreflect Customer Service. As mentioned above, we can not see any of your payment info, so there's not much more we can do to help. They can be reached at 888-271-3446. (may have to leave a message)
  • Don't give up!

What is the difference between "w/text" and "no text"?

  • If you order a shot With Text, we open the image in Photoshop, and add text onto the image like "Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap - Month, Year" or you can specify what text you want in the "Instructions" section during checkout. If you order the image on CD with text, you also get the original image with no text on the same CD.
  • Text is only added if you order/pay for that option.

Examples:

No Text

With Text

What is the difference between "Glossy" and "Satin" prints?

  • "Glossy" prints have a shiny finish, and show a little more detail, but they don't look as good behind glass. (double reflective surfaces)
  • "Satin" prints have a flat or matte finish that hides a little of the detail, but they look better behind glass, and not bad on their own.

Why don't you offer package deals?

  • Package deals are generally scams. The seller prices individual items unnecessarily high, then "offers" the items at a more reasonable price if you buy in quantity...usually resulting in the purchase of things you don't really need. Our pricing is as low as we can go, and you can make your own packages this way, of just what you want.

What can I do with images on CD?

  • Whatever you want, in a personal, non-commercial manner. If you want to make prints, or copies, that is fine, as long as they are not being used to make money. If you want to use the images commercially, all we usually ask is that you credit "killboy.com" and let us know about it. There is a copyright release included on all CDs.

Can you crop/center/zoom/rotate my print?

  • Only on the smaller prints, like 5x7s, Coffee Mugs, Mouse Pads, Key Chains, etc. We can NOT do much, if any cropping on larger prints because the image is already being stretched onto the big print. They will look fine like they are, but if we crop, the image is stretched even more, and may look grainy. Centering, Zooming, and Rotating all require some form of cropping.

Can I order by phone?

  • No, sorry. Photoreflect handles all of our transactions, and we can not process credit cards ourselves. They handle all of that securely, and we do not see any of your payment info. They do not accept orders by phone either. You can pay by check online if you prefer. (you will see the option during checkout)

Can I modify/change/combine my order(s)?

  • Not likely. As mentioned above, Photoreflect processes the payment info. Once that process has been completed, the order is locked-in and sent to us for fulfillment. About all we can do at that point is fill or cancel the order, so it's important to look through all shots and make sure your order is correct before submitting.

What is the resolution/format of your images?

  • We are currently shooting at a resolution of 3888x2592, or 10 megapixels and only in JPEG format. Very old shots (pre 2003) may be of slightly less resolution, but nothing is below 5 megapixel image size. These images are more than adequate for poster prints of 24x36 inches.

  • Can I see a sample image? (yes, see here)

Can't you just email the digitals to me?

  • Tried it, didn't work too well. With all of the junk mail filters in use these days, email is pretty unreliable. Throw in a domain like "killboy" and attach a 2-4Mb file to it, and it almost always bounces right back to the sender. CDs are cheap, reliable, and allow us to throw on some freebies. ;)

I only received part of my order, where is the rest?

  • CDs and prints ship separately...CDs from our house, prints from a pro photo lab. Give it a few days and you should see the rest of your order. If not, contact us!

Other nuggets of ordering info to keep in mind:

  • Funds are set aside from your card at the time of the order, but we do not get paid by Photoreflect until several weeks after the order is shipped to you. If there is a problem processing your card, the funds may be set aside temporarily, but they will go back in a few days. We don't ask them to do this, it's your bank's bright idea.

  • Special request orders require more time to process.

  • All different digital images ordered are placed on ONE CD. If you order a quantity of more than 1 particular digital image on CD, you will get that many CDs.

  • Each digital image you would like on CD must be ordered individually. If you want 6 different images on CD, you must place all 6 in your shopping cart.

  • Coffee Mugs with prints are white glazed ceramic with the image underneath the glaze.

  • Some print items have to be cropped to fit the original image onto the print, like so:

  • We will do our best to make cropped prints look attractive.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

What camera do you use?

  • We currently use Canon 40D digital SLR cameras with various Canon "L" professional lenses.

Do you make a living at this?

  • Yes, this is full-time work for 4 of us. We do a little freelance work for magazines, but shooting 1,000,000+ photos a year, sorting, uploading, and filling orders is how we make our living.

I'm coming to the Gap soon, will you be out there?

  • Most likely.  We shoot practically every day of the week from about 9am until 6pm during the riding season. (March - November) Just enjoy your trip, and hopefully when you get home we'll have some shots of ya.

What will the weather be like when I get there?

  • Ah the big question...if I knew the answer to that you wouldn't be reading this. The only thing you can do is keep an eye on the forecast like the rest of us mortals. If you're curious about what it is usually like at a certain time of year, check out one of the archives for daily averages like this one.

$6 to "Push a Button" Isn't that kinda high?

  • Stand out in the weather & bugs every day, watching your friends have a good time. Spend $10,000+ on photo equipment along with all of the other costs and time consumption involved in processing orders and see if you still think we're just "pushing a button". =)

Only $6 a shot?  Most Photographers charge 10 times that!

  • We love what we do, and want everyone to be able to afford a few shots of themselves, not just the rich folks. The kids struggling through school and spending their last dime on riding gear should be able to get a few shots. Don't let the low prices fool you, these are professional-quality shots. Several magazines have used our work, and that is from the same equipment we shoot you with.

Who are you guys?

Where did the name "killboy" come from?

  • I started playing online flight sims back in the mid 90's and needed a nickname. The album "Smash" by one of my favorite bands, The Offspring, had just been released. There's a song on there called "Killboy Powerhead". Not the greatest song, but I liked the name so I started using it. Eventually I registered the domain because that's what everyone was doing. For a while it was whatever I was into...video games, RC Cars, and finally motorcycles. The website has continued to grow and now I can't get out from under it! But it's cool, something weird, short, easy to remember.
